“The potential to literally change everything…”
I reached out to Diamond and asked for support and helping me to really ground myself and my purpose, and my mission, my vision, and to not get lost into what capitalism typically does to people, which is, it has you focused on the everlasting growth and expansion "just because," as opposed to really growing in such a way that's intentional and thoughtful, and that focuses most so on the kind of impact that you're having, not only on other people, but also the kind of impact that the work that you're building is having on you.
Now I'm far more confident. And I'm in a place where I'm constructing my own workflow and my own work schedule around me and works best for me and the kind of time and attention that I need to be able to take care of myself. And to be able to look out for my family.
What shifted everything for me was being reminded of the importance of first having my work output be enough for me. So when I really talked through that with Diamond and got a lot of encouragement for my work output to be good enough for me first, that changed everything for me.
For the person [reading] this right now, I think what I want you to be reminded of is when we create, right, we're creating from Self first. And depending on the intersections of identities that you hold, you may from a very early age have been conditioned to believe that what you give to community, that what you have to offer is not good enough. And sometimes that can lead you to overcompensate, where then you're giving, giving, giving, giving, giving, giving, giving, from a place of really not having or giving so much that at the end of the day, you no longer have anything left to give to yourself, or to give to your most intimate and closest relationships and people in your life. And that's not fair. And there's nothing 'just' about that.
So if you're considering working with Diamond, I encourage you to do so. Because it just might have the potential to literally change everything, that all the ways in which you are engaging with your work life with your personal life. It literally has the capacity, the possibility of putting you in a position where you then can change everything.”
